THE
ACME 109
N Broadway, Billings Montana

PROJECT BASICS
The
$3.4 million historic restoration of the Acme Hotel in downtown
Billings
is modeled after our successful
Lenox
Flats project and serves rental households between 20 - 50% AMI with
rents ranging from $250 - $450. The Acme has 19 units and was finished
in the Fall of 2004.
INNOVATIONS
Through the
renovation of the Acme building, homeWORD preserved its historic
features, while
creating more affordable
housing and revitalizing the downtown corridor. The 1911 Acme building
is a part of the National Register of Historic Places. This type
of historic preservation is considered an important example of sustainable
building as it conserves materials and uses existing infrastructure.
To help offset rent costs, homeWORD rents out 5,662 square feet of
commercial space for fair market value. The Acme budget also includes
1% for public art.
